So, I'll be heading down to Phoenix in a couple of weeks for work. It's going to be a two week trip and I don't want to be stuck in the company mandated "compact" rental while driving from site to site. So any Jalops have any tips/tricks/hookups that I can try when I reserve my car this morning?

A Cara-camino that I saw the other day for your time.

Certain rental companies let you pick your own car, But you could just ask if they have any larger vehicles available or something along those lines.

I rent cars fairly often for work. Several tips / recommendations for you:

1.) 100% make a rewards account with whomever you rent with. I usually do Enterprise or Hertz. With Enterprise you automatically go to the business line even with 0 activity for just registering an account.

2.) Request an upgrade on site (either at the Kiosk or in some instances when you check in and pick your car up in the garage). They are usually hesitant to upgrade you and "would need management overrides..etc"...but be persistent, but nice. You need to be friendly but bold. Say listen i'll be renting a car for two weeks from you and plan on keep using you guys can you throw me an upgrade...etc. This has worked for me several times.

3.) If they are late having a car prepared (usually not an issue at airport rental pickups) - I always demand an update / whatever they have there and say I requested that time because I need to be somewhere...etc They've never not upgraded me for this.

4.) If you want an upgrade and none of these options work, if booking it on a company card most let you allocate part to personal. Just expense the compact and pay out of pocket for the upgrade.

Best of luck!

Have you looked into Silvercar ? For the price of a compact at most rental places, you get an A4. Phoenix is one of their locations.
